While at Tulane University I became intrigued with the traditional use herbal medicine and acupuncture to treat diseases. I discovered that the National College of Naturopathic Medicine offered studies in Chinese medicine along with their curriculum of Naturopathic medicine which included lifestyle, American herbal medicines, nutrition, homeopathy, and musculoskeletal therapy. After four years of study I received a doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine. I entered the program in 1978 and graduated in 1982. I moved to Arizona and had a successful practice with two offices. After four years I thought to expand my scope of practice to include treating people in hospitals. I became most interested in Osteopathic tenants of how structure influences bodily functions. I decided that this was the field of medicine I should pursue. I chose to go to the original school of Osteopathic medicine in Kirksville Missouri. They taught more hours of Osteopathic manipulative medicine than the other colleges. I learned all I could from the highly regarded manipulation department at Kirksville. After graduating in 1990 I did a one year rotating internship at Mesa General Hospital. I went into private family practice after my internship and became certified by the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians. From 1995 to 2000 I took the position as Medical director at the Southwest Naturopathic Medical Center which was the main training site for the students attending the Southwest Naturopathic Medical School and Health Sciences. I was also an associate professor for Midwestern University accepting Osteopathic medical students for clinical rotation. From 2000 to 2002 I was in private practice in Scottsdale Arizona. From 2002 to 2003 I worked for the Aidan Cancer Treatment Center in Tempe, Arizona. I moved to California in 2003 and joined forces with the Preventive Medical Center of Marin.
